how much decking would I need?

I am looking to get decking in my garden to cover a slant at the back to make it all level.. The measurements are 16ft (horizontal) and 8ft (vertical). I am sorry if not coming accross very good but I am not vey good at all this lol!

I am just looking at prices just now, does anyone have a rough idea of how much you think this would cost or can you tell me how I can work it out. Everywhere I am looking it is in meters and meters squared and I am really confused now!

Thanks in advance

Due to the massive size of the construction you are wanting, 8 ft high, you may well require Planning and Building control permissions so it would be best to go to several specialists and get them to advise you and get quotes.

The size of your deck will require structural engineering!!!

  2. You have 128 square feet. If you get 5/4" x 6" decking, just get 16, 16-foot boards.

  4. 1 metre = 3ft & 3"

Your decking will need cutting to fit anyway so just estimate 3ft to be 1m

    Hope this helps .

PS I’ve just read the other answers and would like to say your intended decking is small and a 15 year old could erect it sufficiently so don’t be put off.

  5. your decking boards are about 145 mm or 5 1/2 inch,if you can get them at 16ft which i think you can you will need 16 lengths to cover your area? you will be looking at about £150.00 for your boards, and then it all depends how you construct your base,to lay them on? top tip don’t forget to use a mask if you need to cut any tantalised timber,as its poisonous?
