What winter flowers will look nice in window boxes? Can i get anything trailing?


I love purple and white lobeilia, will i get anything like this, thanks xxx

There are a lot of things you can plant, here are just a few suggestions…

Trailing: Lobelia, Verbena, Petunia, Calibrachoa, Alyssum, Gypsophila

Upright: Nemesia, Angelonia, Calendula, Primula, Viola, Pansy, Mums, Rudbeckia, Cosmos, Schizanthus, Linaria, Cheiranthus, Coleus, Dianthus, Snapdragons, Ornamental Cabbage and Kale, Forget-Me-Not, Stock, Iceland Poppies and Cyclamen

You didn’t list your zone, so you may not be able to find all of these. Just bring the suggestions with you and have fun at the garden center. (If it’s a reputable garden center, they will be stocking plants that will be hardy to go through the winter. Just double check with them to be sure it’s not a tender annual left over from summer and you should be good to go!)

  3. Ivy, winter flowering pansy. Polyanthus,Primula Wanda,these are winter hardy plants,you can also use some holly,to give a Christmas feel. hope this helps.

    How about amaryllis bulbs? You can but them at any grocery store the price ranges from 5$-10$. Amaryllis come in all sorts of pretty colors like: orange, white, red, purple, pink, beige, dark purple, red with white stripes etc… You should check it out.

  7. All of the above! … and endurio violas have a fantastic trailing habit too! Carex buchaniii is a lovely bronze grass that doesn’t get too tall or invasive too and makes a smashing backdrop to winter winder boxes. Good luck!

  8. Ivy, winter flowering pansy. Polyanthus,Primula . cyclamen etc are all winter flowering
    really all you need do is visit any good garden centre
